India Prime Minister Narendra Modi hailed the national team’s performance in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023.

The Rohit Sharma-led side finished off as the runners-up in the quadrennial event. India’s campaign was near flawless as they won 10 successive games to reach the final. However, the Men in Blue were outplayed by the eventual champions Australia in the title clash.

Addressing the nation in his final episode of 'Mann Ki Baat' for 2023, PM Modi praised Team India’s stunning display right through the tournament.

According to the Prime Minister, the team won everyone's heart with the way they played in the showpiece tournament.

"Indian players won everyone's heart with their performance in the Cricket World Cup. The victory of our women's cricket team in the Under-19 T-20 World Cup is very inspiring. The achievements of players in many other sports added to the glory of the country," Modi said.

After defeating all the participating teams in the league stage and then beating New Zealand in the semi-final, India suffered a heartbreaking six-wicket defeat at the hands of Australia in the World Cup 2023 final in Ahmedabad on November 19.

Following the disappointing result, PM Modi had visited the Indian dressing room to cheer up the players. He interacted with each player and lauded their effort throughout the tournament. He asked the team to ‘stick together’ while also adding that the country is with them.
