Kohli cherishes his partnerships with Dhoni and being his trusted deputy.
Virat Kohli on Thursday (August 25) penned a heartfelt post for his former captain MS Dhoni on his social media accounts, recalling being his "trusted deputy" in the Indian team for a number of years.
Kohli, who has always shared a special bond with his first captain in international cricket, played for almost 11 years with him at the highest level. Dhoni led the Indian team in Tests from 2008 to 2014, and in white-ball formats from 2007 to 2016 - winning every major ICC event at least once.
Kohli, eventually succeeded Dhoni as captain in all three formats for India and went on to become one of the most successful captains of all-time in the format in its rich history. Dhoni played his final two and half years under Kohli in ODIs and T20Is, helping him at evert step along the way in his leadership.

Kohli has never forgotten the support he received from Dhoni in his career and still cherishes their onfield memories, as can be deciphered from his latest social media post for 'Captain Cool'.
Kohli wrote, “Being this man’s trusted deputy was the most enjoyable and exciting period in my career. Our partnerships would always be special to me forever. 7+18”
Kohli is currently preparing for the Asia Cup 2022, with India's first match against Pakistan coming up on Sunday (August 28) in Dubai, UAE.
