WATCH - Wasim Akram inducted into PCB Hall of Fame; receives cap and plaque from Sir Viv Richards

Former Pakistani skipper Wasim Akram, on Sunday (20th February), was formally inducted into the PCB Hall of Fame. He was honored by Sir Vivian Richards, who presented him with a commemorative cap and plaque. 

Wasim Akram is widely regarded as the best left-arm fast bowler ever to play the game and one of the finest pacers of all time. 

In his international career spanning 18 years, the left-arm pacer took 414 wickets in 104 Tests and bagged 502 wickets in the 356 ODIs he played. He was also the part of 1992 World Cup-winning squad, becoming the Player of the Final against England. 

Wasim Akram was among the eight former Pakistan cricketers who will be inducted into the PCB Hall of Fame in the upcoming days. Others Ex-cricketers are Abdul Qadir, Fazal Mahmood, Hanif Mohammad, Imran Khan, Javed Miandad, Waqar Younis, and Zaheer Abbas.

Speaking in an official release, Wasim Akram said that he feels privileged to receive the honor from Sir Vivian Richards at his home ground. He credited PCB for launching the initiative to recognize and acknowledge the contributions of former cricketers. 

"I feel privileged to have received this great honor from Sir Vivian Richards, one of the most iconic figures in cricket, and at a venue that remained my home ground during my playing career. I also want to compliment the Pakistan Cricket Board for launching this initiative to recognize and acknowledge the contributions of former cricketers,” Wasim Akram said. 

Wasim Akram further said that it has been an honor for him to represent Pakistan in 460 international matches. 

"It has been an honor to represent Pakistan over 18 years during which I played in 460 international matches. Every wicket and every run I scored in these matches was priceless. I can't thank God Almighty enough for providing me the opportunity to serve this great country at the highest level," he said.
