India's limited-overs captain Rohit Sharma on Sunday (January 16) reacted to Virat Kohli's sudden announcement to leave Test captaincy. Rohit was surprised to know Kohli's decision.

Kohli was always vocal about his love for Test format and given his record as captain, his decision did come as a shock for many. The 33-year-old made a post on Saturday and thanked BCCI for giving him the opportunity to lead the Indian cricket team. He also mentioned former India cricketer MS Dhoni's name while expressing his gratitude for believing in him.

Kohli had taken over Test captaincy in 2014 after Dhoni's retirement on the Australia tour. "A big thank you to MS Dhoni who believed in me as a captain and found me to be an able individual who could take Indian cricket forward," he wrote.

India remained unbeaten at home under the captaincy of Kohli, winning all the series he led in. They defeated the likes of South Africa (3-0), New Zealand (3-0), England (4-0), and Australia (2-1) from 2015 to 2017 at home. In the 68 matches he captained, India won 40 of those and lost just 17 matches.
