The year 2021 was a bit better than 2020 despite it ending with the rise of the Omicron variant of the COVID-19 virus at the fag end. However, cricket-wise, the year proved to be a super duper hit with Indian team giving their fans a lot to be joyous about.

Though the Delta variant of the virus wreaked havoc in March-May in India, it subsidized enough to let crowd come in and watch the matches at home featuring Indian team in the winter. India won the Test series in Australia to begin the year on a grand note and then reached the final of the World Test Championship.

They are leading the Test series in England 2-1 with epic wins in Oval and Lord’s Test matches. They defeated England and New Zealand at home, but had a disappointing T20 World Cup 2021, where they failed to reach the semis and also lost their first-ever World Cup match in the tournament.

The IPL saw Chennai Super Kings winning their 4th title and then India got a new full-time white-ball captain in Rohit Sharma who will lead the team in 2022 T20 World Cup and 2023 ODI World Cup.

India ended the year on a high with first-ever win in Centurion Test match against South Africa, and will now eye a series win in the remaining two Tests in 2022.

The Indian cricket fraternity took to Twitter to wish everyone, as the world steps into a new year of 2022, with new hopes, and positive thoughts.
