Australian batter Travis Head scored a brilliant unbeaten 112 on day two of the ongoing first Ashes 2021-22 Test against England at the Gabba, Brisbane. His century, David Warner’s 94 and 74 from Marnus Labuschagne helped the home side to 343/7 at the end of day’s play.

However, Head, who reached his 100 off just 85 balls, experienced a scary moment when England pacer Mark Wood unleashed a lethal beamer that hit Head on his jaw, after ricocheting off his glove.

The incident happened on Thursday afternoon, in the 82nd over of Australia’s first innings at the Gabba, Wood delivered a 136kmph full toss, and Head had no time to react as the ball struck him on the glove before ricocheting into his chin.

Wood immediately offered an apology as medics rushed to the ground. “Bit of a reminder of Phil Hughes there. I know they were great mates.” – said Brett Lee on commentary.

However what was much bizarre to see was the reaction of Head’s teammate Marnus Labuschagne, who was sitting in the pavilion along with David Warner. While Warner’s reaction was that of a surprise and concern, Labuschagne sported a wide smile, finding the whole incident funny.
