Lasith Malinga is the highest wicket-taker of the Indian Premier League.
Sri Lanka speedster Lasith Malinga announced retirement from all forms of cricket on Tuesday (September 14). Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Mumbai Indians paid a tribute to their star pacer who was part of the team in 4 IPL and 2 CLT20 title wins.
"Hanging up my #T20 shoes and #retiring from all forms of cricket! Thankful to all those who supported me in my journey, and looking forward to sharing my experience with young cricketers in the years to come," tweeted Malinga.

MI posted a picture of Malinga being carried on the shoulder of Kieron Pollard and wrote, "From crushing batsmen's toes to getting lifted on shoulders, Mali achieved everything in T20s. As he announces his retirement from T20 cricket, we just have three words to say - Thank. You. Malinga."
The franchise also recalled the famous 'MA-LIN-GAA' chant in the Wankhede Stadium. Malinga has a huge fanbase in Mumbai after playing for MI all these years and producing magical spells.
"Popular sounds from Mumbai: Local train passing by, BEST bus horn, Kali-pili taxi meter and Wankhede buzzing with MA - LIN - GAAAA," MI wrote in another post.
The 38-year-old picked up 170 wickets in 122 matches, which is the most number of wickets in the IPL. He also has the best bowling average among those who have played at least 100 IPL matches.
