Andre Russell is playing for Quetta Gladiators in the Pakistan Super League 6.
Quetta Gladiators' Andre Russell got hit on his helmet during a Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2021 match against Islamabad United. During the first over of the second innings, he was stretchered out from the dressing room to an ambulance after feeling uncomfortable because of the blow.
Russell was struck on his head in the 14th over of Gladiators' innings. He smashed two sixes off Musa Khan in that over before taking a blow after missing out on a bouncer.

The team's physio checked and allowed Russell to continue batting, although he got out next ball. The Caribbean cricketer was later replaced by fast bowler Naseem Shah under the concussion-sub rule at the innings break.
Islamabad United captain, Shadab Khan wasn't pleased with Gladiators' choice of substitute player. While Russell is an all-rounder, Naseem is a fast bowler and the team can only opt for a like-for-like replacement under the concussion substitute rule.
However, it didn't make any difference as Islamabad won the match by 10 wickets and chased down the target of 134 runs in just 10 overs. Colin Munro scored unbeaten 36-ball 90 runs and Usman Khawaja added 27-ball 40 runs.
