West Indies all-rounder Andre Russell has been staying in bio-secure bubbles for a long and now he was yet again put in the controlled environment for the resumption of the Pakistan Super League (PSL 2021).

He was playing for the Quetta Gladiators in the PSL 2021 in Pakistan before the tournament was suspended due to the COVID-19 outbreak inside the bio-bubble and then took some break before the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2021) in India.

In India, he also served a mandatory period before entering the Kolkata Knight Riders’ bio-secure bubble for the IPL 2021, which was also later suspended in early May. However, the veteran all-rounder spent some time outside before entering Quetta Gladiators’ bio-bubble to play in the remainder of the PSL 06.

As he is now in a controlled environment, Russell has admitted that staying in bio-secure bubbles in the COVID-19 era is taking a toll on his mental health, but said he grateful to be able to play cricket in this challenging time of Coronavirus around the world.

Russell told Geo News: “I think it's taking a toll on myself. I can't talk for any other player or coaches or anyone that goes through this whole quarantine stuff. But it's definitely taken a toll on me mentally because from bubble to bubble, in a room locked in, you can't go out for a walk, you can't go certain places, you can't socialize, it's different.”

He concluded, “But at the end of the day, I'm not being ungrateful, I'm grateful that we're still playing, we're still doing our job. So it's tough for us.”
