Shankar, the vice-captain of Tamil Nadu, isn't part of the team for Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy (SMAT) knock-out stages because of his marriage. He had already informed the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association about his unavailability.
The 29-year-old played only one match for Tamil Nadu in the ongoing domestic T20 tournament against Jharkhand. It was their opening clash of the SMAT.
Tamil Nadu are currently in the semi-final after beating Himachal Pradesh in a quarter-final encounter. They will have to beat Rajasthan to ensure a place in the final.
