Rohit will become the fourth Indian cricketer to get the highest sporting honor in India.
India's limited-overs vice-captain Rohit Sharma will receive the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award after being named as one of five athletes for India's highest sporting honor. Apart from Rohit, Indian cricketers Ishant Sharma and Deepti Sharma were named among the 27 Arjuna Awardees.
Rohit's friends, Shikhar Dhawan and Yuvraj Singh congratulated him for the honor. He is only the fourth Indian cricketer to be named for the prestigious Khel Ratna award.

Shikhar also posted a picture with Rohit and tweeted, "Congratulations on the being conferred with the prestigious #KhelRatnaAward partner! Proud of you bro Clapping hands sign @ImRo45".
Before Rohit, Sachin Tendulkar, MS Dhoni, and Virat Kohli were conferred with Khel Ratna Award. Tendulkar was the first Indian cricketer to get the award back in 1998.
Dhoni received the sporting honor after leading India to the T20 World Cup in 2007 while Virat Kohli won the award in 2018.
