R Ashwin pokes fun at David Warner after Indian government bans TikTok

Warner has spent most of his COVID-19 lockdown time dancing to various songs on TikTok.

Veteran off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin on Monday (June 29) took a dig at the Australian opener David Warner after India banned 59 Chinese-owned applications.

There is an anti-Chinese movement that has triggered across India since the border clash at Galwan valley earlier this month.

Popular video-sharing social networking platform TikTok also features in the list of apps banned by the Indian government.

Since Warner has spent most of his COVID-19 lockdown time dancing to various songs on TikTok, Ashwin trolled the southpaw on Twitter, stating: “Appo Anwar?”, which is a dialogue from superstar actor Rajnikant’s 1995 film “Baashha”.

The dialogue roughly translates to: “So, what’s David Warner going to do now?”

Ashwin poked fun at Warner as the former understands that the Australian cricketer’s TikTok videos used to get the maximum number of views from India.

If the India-China stand-off at Galwan isn’t resolved soon, the BCCI may have to let go of Chinese smartphone maker Vivo as the title sponsor of the Indian Premier League. Notably, the Indian board gets INR 440 crore annually from Vivo for the five-year deal slated to expire in 2022.
