Rohit Sharma recalls his humble beginning after completing 13 years in international cricket

India batsman Rohit Sharma completed 13 years in international cricket on Tuesday (June 23). The elegant right-hander had made his India debut against Ireland in an ODI game at Belfast back in 2007.

On adding yet another successful season to his illustrious career, Rohit took to Twitter and wrote: "Grateful for 13 amazing years and counting... never thought that playing in the gullies of Borivali would lead to this some day, me living my dream."

Rohit has come a long way ever since his debut match. The Mumbaikar boasts of quite a few world records to his name. He is the proud owner of the highest individual ODI score — 264 (against Sri Lanka in 2014). Moreover, he is the only batsman in the history of cricket to have smashed three ODI double tons and four Twenty20 international centuries.

After becoming opener in 2013, Sharma has particularly dominated the 50-over format, amassing 9115 runs in 224 games at an average of 49.27 with 29 tons. In Test cricket, he has scored 2141 runs in 32 matches at an average of 46.54 including 6 centuries.

Rohit Sharma was also instrumental in India’s 2007 T20 World Cup and 2013 Champions Trophy triumphs.
