India batsman Rohit Sharma is known for his love for the nature and he often does his bit to keep it healthy and sound.

On Friday (June 1), Rohit drew everyone’s attention towards the harmful consequences of plastic in our oceans and marine life. He also lauded a Mumbai-based lawyer Afroz Shah, who has played a key role in cleaning up a place where more than 15 million kg of plastic was disposed of.

Taking to micro-blogging site Twitter, Sharma wrote: “PLASTIC-One of the biggest threats to the health of our oceans & marine life.I had the opportunity to help clean up a place where more than 15 million kg of plastic was disposed of by one mans efforts - @AfrozShah1 if one man can make a big impact, imagine what we can do together.”

Earlier, Rohit had extended his support to India Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’. The Mumbaikar has been spotted planting trees time and again for the betterment of our society.

Sharma led Mumbai Indians in the just concluded Indian Premier League. Unfortunately, the champions of last season, MI, couldn’t perform to their full potential in IPL 2018. Rohit didn’t step up to the plate with the bat either.

The Mumbai Indians captain amassed only 286 runs in the 14 innings of this year’s IPL. Sharma was instrumental with the bat in Mumbai’s three IPL triumphs. While Rohit has piled up 538 runs in IPL 2013, he has aggregated 482 runs and 333 runs in IPL 2015 and IPL 2017 respectively.
