Karachi Kings defeated Lahore Qalandars by 5 wickets by successfully chasing the 200-run target.
The lighthearted "fight" between the mascots instantly went viral, with captains David Warner and Shaheen Shah Afridi unable to hold back their laughs. However, commentator Ramiz Raja stole the evening with his humorous, play-by-play commentary. "Don't spoil the pitch!" - Ramiz added comedy gold.
“Well, it is called the classico. We've got Karachi Kings and Lahore Qalandars at each other's throats before the toss. And there's a little bit of scuffle, I think, and nothing serious. I just… don’t spoil the pitch, please. I think that's enough. Enough, guys, enough. You can leave now. We can have the regular toss in now,” Raja further added.
The humour continued as he turned to Warner and added: “There's a little trailer for you, David. In case you didn't realize the rivalry between Lahore and Karachi, we enacted one for you.”
While PSL intended to entertain its fans who were watching from home; some fans didn’t share the same enthusiasm as the organizers. Several fans chastised the PSL for what they described as a needless and "over-the-top" performance, questioning the need for produced drama before a high-profile game.
Others, however, praised the lighthearted buildup, calling it a good approach to emphasize the rivalry.
