Alyssa Healy will retire from all cricket after India's tour down under in February.
The upcoming India women’s tour of Australia will be Alyssa Healy’s swansong for her team. Indian women will play one Test, three WT20Is, and three WODIs starting February 15.
Niece of former Australia wicket-keeper Ian Healy, Alyssa Healy made her international debut in 2010 as a 19-year-old in a series against New Zealand. She is set to finish with 162 T20Is, 126 ODIs, and 11 Test caps for Australia. Healy will also end her career with a record 126 dismissals in T20Is.
Healy also played for Sydney Sixers in Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) and amassed over 3,000 runs across 11 seasons in the Women's Big Bash League and winning two titles. Healy also played two seasons of the Women's Premier League and captained the UP Warriorz.
"It's with mixed emotions that the upcoming India series will be my last for Australia. I still love playing for my country, but I feel the competitive edge that's driven me for so long isn't quite the same anymore. The timing feels right.
I won't be going to the T20 World Cup this year, and, given the limited preparation time the team has, I won't be part of the T20s against India. But I'm excited to finish my career by captaining the ODI and Test sides at home in one of the biggest series on our calendar.
I'll genuinely miss my teammates, singing the team song and walking out to open the batting for Australia. Representing my country has been an incredible honor, and I'm grateful for one last series in the green and gold," Healy stated on the Willow Talk podcast.
Mitchell Starc, Australia’s ace pacer and Healy’s partner, celebrated her career by posting a photo of her century against England on Instagram, captioned with an orange heart.
He also shared a picture on his Insta story, writing “Proud of ya."
