Former skipper Rohit Sharma unveiled Team India’s new T20I jersey during the mid-innings break of the second ODI against South Africa in Raipur on Wednesday (December 3).
The Men in Blue will sport this jersey during the T20 World Cup 2026, slated to be held in India and Sri Lanka from February 7 to March 8.
Rohit was joined by India batter Tilak Varma on the podium, where BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia and representatives from Adidas handed over the kit to the duo.
With this event, staged at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh Stadium, fans caught a glimpse of the jersey Indian cricketers will wear in next year’s ICC showpiece.
The jersey features dominant deep blue shade, complemented by vibrant orange panels along the sides. The tricolour appears in the collar, while vertical blue stripes provide added texture to the brand-new outfit.
Speaking at the jersey launch ceremony, Rohit said: “It’s been a long journey. We won our first World Cup in 2007, and we had to wait more than 15 years to win the next one. It’s been a long road with plenty of ups and downs, but it felt great to lift the trophy again. Now, with the World Cup happening in India, it’s going to be an exciting tournament. My best wishes are always with the team, and I’m sure everyone will be behind them, supporting them and doing their best."
Rohit Sharma, India’s 2024 T20 World Cup-winning captain, was recently named ambassador for the upcoming T20 World Cup.
The Indian team, which will will enter the competition as defending champions, has been placed in a group alongside arch-rivals Pakistan, the USA, Namibia, and the Netherlands.
India will begin their title defence against the USA in Mumbai on February 7, the opening day of the marquee event. They then take on Namibia in Delhi on February 12. The Suryakumar Yadav-led side will travel to Colombo to face arch-rivals Pakistan on February 15, while their final group game is scheduled against the Netherlands in Ahmedabad on February 18.
