Shreyas Iyer ruptured his spleen while talking a catch during the 3rd ODI between India and Australia.
He was in immediate pain, and an Indian physio treated him on the field, but Iyer had to leave the field with him.
When he arrived at the dressing room, his health worsened as his vital parameters fell, necessitating immediate hospitalization. Subsequent medical scans indicated internal bleeding caused by a spleen laceration, and he was sent to an ICU at a Sydney hospital.
According to the most recent reports, the Indian batter's condition is stable, and he was moved out of the ICU on Tuesday. BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia told the Times of India that the 30-year-old could return to action sooner than the usual six- to eight-week timeline.
Meanwhile, India T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav’s mother prayed for Shreyas Iyer’s health during the Chhath Puja celebrations. The India ODI vice-captain had ruptured his spleen after sustaining an injury during the 3rd ODI.
Suryakumar's mother can be seen in a video circulating on social media bringing her hands together in devotion and requesting everyone to pray for Iyer's health.
"Mein yeh bolna chahti hu ki aap sab Shreyas Iyer ke liye pray kariye. Sabhi log pray kariye ki woh bohot aache se aa jaye. Kyunki maine kal suna ki uska tabiyat bilkul theek nahi hai. Mujhe sun ke bilkul acha nahi laga.
(I just want to say that all of you should pray for Shreyas Iyer. Everyone, please pray that he makes a complete recovery. Because I heard yesterday that his health is not good at all, and I really felt very bad after hearing that),” Surya’s mother can be heard saying.
