The development comes at a time when Shaw is attempting to rebuild his cricket career.
Indian cricketer Prithvi Shaw and his fiancee Akriti Agarwal have officially called off their engagement. Akriti confirmed the mutual separation on Thursday (September 17), explaining that they decided to part ways due to differing future goals, responsibilities, and life circumstances.
The couple had publicly announced their engagement just six months prior, when Shaw shared photos of the proposal on social media. Following the split, he removed the engagement photographs from his Instagram profile.
On the other hand, Akriti shared the update with her followers via an Instagram post to clarify their status and ask for space.
"With a heavy heart, I would like to share that my fiance and I have decided to part ways due to different goals and circumstances for our future. As much as we love and care for each other, we've come to accept that our paths are not meant to be together. With our responsibilities and the circumstances we are currently facing, we have mutually decided to go our separate ways," she wrote.
"I genuinely wish nothing but the best, peace, and happiness for both of us as we move forward. I kindly request everyone to respect our privacy during this difficult time and refrain from speculating or making assumptions about the reasons behind our decision. Thank you for understanding and respecting our space," she added.
The personal development comes during a critical phase for Prithvi Shaw. After storming onto the international scene with a debut Test century in 2018, he last represented India in 2021.
More recently, the 26-year-old moved domestic teams from Mumbai to Maharashtra and was picked up by the Delhi Capitals for INR 75 lakh in the IPL 2026 auction, though he did not feature in a single match for the franchise this season.
Akriti Agarwal, a prominent social media influencer and actress originally from Lucknow, recently made her feature film debut in the movie Trimukha.
