On Friday, September 4, 2026, former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh sent his mentee Abhishek Sharma a special birthday post on social media, wishing the India opener a year filled with hundreds and runs. Abhishek's path to international cricket has been greatly aided by Yuvraj.

The young player has established himself in India's T20 unit and gone on to become the top batter in T20I cricket.

Yuvraj sent a message to Abhishek, who turned 26, and shared a humorous video on Instagram. The video started with Abhishek Sharma doing sit-ups while saying that he will not begin hitting from ball one. There were several photos and videos of Yuvraj and Abhishek in a collage.

In one video, Yuvraj made Abhishek do sit-ups while telling him to vow not to take a reckless shot on the first ball. "Bol mai pehli ball te lappa nahi maaranga," Yuvraj said as Abhishek held his ears and did sit-ups. "Mai pehli ball te lift nahi maranga," Abhishek explained.

The video also showed Yuvraj, Abhishek, and Sanju Samson watching Wimbledon from the stands. In another clip, Yuvraj asks Abhishek, "Kya chahiye aapko?" Abhishek responds, "Aapka Aashirwaad," to which Yuvraj says, "Always."Always".

"Sir Abhishek, it's your birthday. What an auspicious day. Love the person you have become—sharing and caring for those around you, and a leader! Always learning from your failures and willing to put in more hard work each time! Wishing you a year of runs and tons! Lots of love always,” Yuvraj posted on Instagram.

Abhishek has scored two centuries and 11 half-centuries in 55 innings for India. He also holds the second-fastest T20I century by an Indian, reaching the landmark in 37 balls against England last year. Abhishek will next be seen in India's three-match T20I series against Afghanistan in New Delhi.
