Vaibhav Sooryavanshi smoked 50 in 11 balls and 94 in 29 balls in tri-series final.
India A are clashing with Sri Lanka A in the final of the one-day tri-series at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium on June 21, 2026. Sri Lanka A captain Sahan Ararachige won the toss and chose to bowl first.
India A opened with Priyansh Arya and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. Much was expected of Sooryavanshi, who had a disappointing series so far. However, the two openers added 132 runs for the first wicket in just 8.5 overs.
And the majority of the runs from the partnership came from Sooryavanshi, who smashed 94 in just 29 balls with 10 fours and 8 sixes to his name. During his knock, Sooryavanshi reached his fifty in just 11 balls, with 5 fours and 5 sixes to his name. This is the fastest fifty ever in List-A cricket.
He looked like equaling the record for fastest List-A century as well, held by Jake Fraser McGurk off 29 balls, but got out trying to hit a big one to reach the milestone.
Sanjay Manjrekar took to X (formerly Twitter) to praise Vaibhav Sooryavanshi for his knock and said he realized Sooryavanshi can create more mayhem in the 50-over format, given that the powerplay overs are 10 rather than 6.
“Just realised Vaibhav looks at 50 overs cricket as a format where he can create even more mayhem! What with 2 fielders outside the circle for 10 overs! & not 6,” Manjrekar posted on X.
However, several fans reacted to Manjrekar’s praise for Sooryavanshi and brutally trolled him, reminding him that he wanted India A management to drop Sooryavanshi from the final for the physical altercation incident with a Sri Lanka A player during a league game recently.
The trolling was so severe that Manjrekar locked his replies, but fans continued in the "quotes’ section of X.
