Even though debutant Ishan Kishan stole the show with his 59 off just 42 deliveries in the first ODI of the three-match series, fellow debutant Suryakumar Yadav played the finisher's role as he scored 31 runs off 20 balls to take the Indian team to victory against the hosts Sri Lanka.

While talking to the broadcasters ahead of the second ODI between India and Sri Lanka, Yadav revealed that he enjoyed playing a finisher's role and is ready to bat at any position the team management wants him to.

Enjoyed it completely (on playing a finisher's role). I've been doing the same thing for the last two years, and just looked to bat like how I do in the nets. I think the passion for this game kept me going,Yadav said while speaking to the broadcasters ahead of the second ODI on Tuesday.

SL v IND 2021: Wasim Jaffer reveals players to watch out for in 2nd ODI with a cryptic tweet

I have been bowling as well, and am ready if the captain asks me to. I have batted at every batting position possible, and I have been playing at number three in the T20s. But I am ready to bat wherever the team management wants me to,” he added.

The right-hand middle-order batsman, who made his T20I debut in India’s home T20I series against England in Ahmedabad earlier this year, talked about his feelings on making his ODI debut this time around against Sri Lanka in Sri Lanka.

My dad kept telling me to stay patient and that the opportunity would come. It was emotional to receive that cap, but disappointed that the family wasn't here because of the covid situation,” the 30-year-old signed off.

As far as the second ODI between the Indian team and hosts Sri Lanka is concerned, the home team skipper Dasun Shanaka has won the toss and has decided to bat first with Kasun Rajitha replacing Isuru Udana whereas the Men in Blue are unchanged.
