Batting great Sunil Gavaskar lauded Indian pacers for their terrific performances in the recent T20I series against West Indies. He especially praised Deepak Chahar for his ability to swing the ball both ways.

Indian pacers displayed sensational performances in the recently concluded T20I series against West Indies. The likes of Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Deepak Chahar, Harshal Patel, Shardul Thakur, and even all-rounder Venkatesh Iyer chipped in at crucial moments to help their side complete a 3-0 whitewash.

While Deepak Chahar troubled the batters with his swing in the powerplays, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Harshal Patel, and Shardul Thakur did an outstanding job of holding onto their nerves under tremendous pressure in the death overs of the last two games.

Speaking on Star Sports, Sunil Gavaskar lauded Deepak Chahar as a terrific swing bowler with extra pace. He highlighted that the pacer moves the ball at a decent pace, which makes it difficult for a batter.

He added that with Bhuvneshwar Kumar on the bench, who had two terrific outings in the T20I series, India is blessed with riches in their bowling department.

"He is a terrific swing bowler. He has that extra pace as well. He isn't express but he gets the ball to move at a decent pace which makes it difficult for a batsman. And he has got both the in-swinger and the out-swinger without a noticeable change in action which makes it difficult.

“So, when you have someone like him and have Bhuvneshwar Kumar on the bench after two fine performances in the series, India are blessed as far as riches in bowling are concerned," Sunil Gavaskar said.

Sunil Gavaskar further said that with Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammad Shami, and Mohammed Siraj also available, Team India is spoiled for choices.

"There is Bumrah. Don't forget him. He will walk into any team in the world, not just the India team, any team. Then you have Mohammed Siraj, Mohammed Shami...spoiled for choices," he said.

India will next face Sri Lanka in a three-match T20I series, which will be played from 24th March to 27th March in Lucknow and Dharamsala.
