The Indian team on Friday carried out their first extensive training session ahead of the three-match ODI series against the West Indies at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The BCCI shared photos from the training session on their social media accounts.

However, missing in action were the players who tested positive for COVID-19- Shikhar Dhawan, Shreyas Iyer, Ruturaj Gaikwad, and Navdeep Saini. Three support staff members also tested positive including fielding coach T Dilip, security liaison officer B Lokesh, and masseur Rajeev Kumar.

Apart from them, all the other players and training staff who tested negative were present on the field. The players practiced under lights and it was a full-fledged session.

The session also included coach Rahul Dravid introducing young leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi to the rest of the team members. The likes of Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant, and others batted at the nets while the spin duo of Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal bowled.

Mohammed Siraj and Shardul Thakur also rolled their arms in the nets.

Shikhar Dhawan, Ruturaj Gaikwad, and Shreyas Iyer are set to miss the three-match ODI series which begins on February 6 onwards, as they need to complete 7-day isolation and then return with two negative RT-PCR tests.

Mayank Agarwal is in a three-day quarantine after being added to the squad as a backup opener, while reportedly, Ishan Kishan also joined the ODI squad. This is because KL Rahul, the white-ball vice-captain will miss the first ODI due to his sister’s wedding.
