Jadeja was left stranded on 175* as India declared their first innings on 574/8 in Mohali Test.
The hosts had posted 468/7 till the Lunch break on Day 2 and the score crossed the 500-run mark soon in the second session with Ravindra Jadeja thrashing the Lankan bowlers all over the park.
After completing his second Test century, Jadeja went berserk and started dealing in boundaries. He notched up his 150 with a six off Dhananjaya de Silva and was looking set for his maiden Test ton.
However, the Indian team management decided to declare the innings on 574/8, leaving Jadeja stranded on 175 not out. The umpires also called for an early Tea as soon as captain Rohit declared the innings.
Cricket fans on Twitter were left baffled as India declared their innings at the stroke of Tea and didn’t allow Jadeja to score another 25 runs.
The timing of declaration also reminded the fans of Dravid’s decision to declare the innings when Sachin Tendulkar was on 194* in the 2004 Multan Test against Pakistan.
