The first Test match between India and Sri Lanka will be played in Mohali from March 4.
Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali will host the first Test between India and Sri Lanka behind closed doors. They are hosting their first international cricket match after more than two years, and first Test match since 2016.
The Test match, which will kick off from March 4, is also the 100th Test match of Virat Kohli. Unfortunately, the fans won't get to watch Kohli playing the memorable Test live from the stadium.
"First test between India and Sri Lanka will be played behind closed door with no spectator allowed," said PCA CEO Deepak Sharma to ANI.
Indian Test cricketers like Hanuman Vihari, Umesh Yadav, Shubman Gill, Jayant Yadav, Saurabh Kumar, and Srikar Bharat have started training at the IS Bindra Stadium for the first Test.
After Mohali, the team will move to Bengaluru for the second Test match which will be played at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. Rohit Sharma, the newly appointed captain, will lead the team after Kohli had stepped down from the role in South Africa.
