White-ball skipper Rohit Sharma is likely to get the Test captaincy as well.
According to a Cricbuzz report, Jadeja will be included in the squad for the two-Test series against Sri Lanka next month. In fact, he might feature in the three T20Is against Sri Lanka prior to the Test series.
The report also says that Jadeja has already arrived in Lucknow, where the first game of the three-T20I series will be played on February 24.
Jadeja is reportedly serving quarantine in a Lucknow hotel and has been undergoing COVID-19 tests. He could be part of the T20I squad if he gets tested negative for the virus.
Besides Jadeja, leading fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah is also likely to stage a comeback. Notably, Bumrah was rested for the ongoing white-ball series against West Indies following the daunting South Africa tour.
Meanwhile, multiple sources have informed Cricbuzz that former skipper Virat Kohli could be rested for the three T20Is against Sri Lanka.
Kohli is likely to return for the Tests, which means he will play his 100th Test in Mohali, where the first India-Sri Lanka Test is due to take place from March 3.
As far as India’s Test captaincy is concerned – the position has been vacant ever since Kohli stepped down following the South Africa tour. White-ball skipper Rohit Sharma is reportedly the leading candidate to get the job in the longest format as well.
