India lost the third T20I by 49 runs to South Africa, but won the series 2-1.
In reply, India lost early wickets and despite 46 from Dinesh Karthik, 27 from Rishabh Pant, and some late order hitting from Deepak Chahar (31), could only manage 178 runs and lost the match by 49 runs.
During the match, Deepak Chahar created a flutter on social media after he refrained from running out South Africa batter Tristan Stubbs at the non-striker's end for backing up a bit too much.

The incident happened in the 16th over of the 3rd T20I, when Chahar had an opportunity to run out Tristian Stubbs at the non-striker's end. Even before Chahar completed his run-up, Stubbs was way out of the crease at the non-striker's end.
However, Chahar refrained from removing the bails and settled for a warning for the South African batter.
But in the aftermath of the incident, the fans were left divided on social media on whether Chahar should have done what Deepti Sharma did by running out Charlie Dean recently in an ODI, and run out Stubbs, as the dismissal is now categorized as a run out.
