New Zealand spinner Ajaz Patel on Saturday (December 4) created history as he became only the third bowler in cricket history to pick all 10 wickets in a Test innings.

Ajaz achieved the feat in the second Test against India in Mumbai during the home team’s first innings.

On Day 1, the left-arm spinner accounted for the four Indian dismissals and claimed the remaining six wickets on the second day to return with the astonishing figures of 10 for 119 in his 47.5 overs.

Ajaz reached the milestone by removing Mohammed Siraj in the 110th over of India’s innings. Thanks to his awe-inspiring performance, the Kiwis bowled out the hosts for 325 in the first essay.

With this achievement, Ajaz Patel joined an elite list featuring only two others, Jim Laker (10/53) and Anil Kumble (10/74), who have taken all 10 wickets in a Test innings. While Laker had accomplished the milestone against Australia in 1956 at Old Trafford, Kumble did the same against Pakistan in 1999 in Delhi.

For his astounding bowling figures in Mumbai Test, Ajaz Patel garnered rich praise from the cricket fraternity on Twitter.
