Shreyas Iyer will make his Test debut for India on November 25 in Kanpur.
Shreyas Iyer is set to make his Test debut for India in the first match against New Zealand on Thursday (November 25). KL Rahul was ruled out with a muscle strain in the thigh which left a spot for Iyer.
India's stand-in captain Ajinkya Rahane confirmed the inclusion of Iyer in the playing eleven a day before the Test match in Kanpur. There might be more debutants than one for the first Test.

It hasn't been an easy year for Iyer, who had suffered a shoulder injury before the Indian Premier League (IPL 2021). He had sustained the injury during the ODI series against England and after that he underwent surgery. As a result of this, he was also ruled out of the first phase of IPL 2021.
But now, the 26-year-old has 'skipped to the good part' and flaunted his Test jersey for Team India, as seen in Iyer's latest Instagram video. He can be seen resting on a Hospital bed before the reel moves to a new accomplishment in his cricket career.
In Iyer's absence, Delhi Capitals had appointed Rishabh Pant as the captain. Even when Iyer returned in the second phase, the franchise continued to be led by Pant, who took the team to the playoffs. Iyer was also not picked in the T20 World Cup 2021 squad for India.
