India and Afghanistan are clashing in the second ODI of the three-match series on June 17, 2026. This game is being played at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow, and sees India having a lead of 1-0, having won the first game in Dharamsala.

Afghanistan captain Hashmatullah Shahidi won the toss and decided to field first, since the black-soil pitch improves under lights.

Afghanistan made three changes, replacing Mohammad Nabi, Azmatullah Omarzai, and Ziaur Rahman with Bilal Sami and Darwish Rasooli, both of whom made their ODI debuts, as well as one extra player.

Kuldeep Yadav replaced Nitish Kumar Reddy, Harsh Dubey, and Prasidh Krishna, while Yashasvi Jaiswal and Prince Yadav made their India One-Day International debuts.

The biggest news from the toss was that Nitish Kumar Reddy had suffered an injury and was left out of the playing XI. And the BCCI shared an update on his fitness and the reason behind his exclusion.

Mr Nitish Kumar Reddy was unavailable for selection for the second ODI due to a sore left thigh. The BCCI Medical Team is monitoring his progress,” BCCI shared on X.
