The second ODI between India and Afghanistan will be played in Lucknow on June 17.
India opener Yashasvi Jaiswal was in a joking mood as he scolded Nitish Kumar Reddy for being late as they left the team hotel. This happened ahead of the second ODI of the three-match series between India and Afghanistan, which will be played in Lucknow on June 17.
Yashasvi Jaiswal and Nitish Kumar Reddy were spotted leaving the team hotel in their new travel attire before the second match in Lucknow. Jaiswal was irritated at Nitish for being late and was observed waiting for him at the entrance.
He jokingly requested Nitish to arrive on time and even showed him the time on his wristwatch to let him know that he was running late.
"Das minute se gaadi mai baitha hun. Time se aa jaya kar yaar. Dekh kya time ho raha hai. Darwaza kholta hun mai tere liye (I am sitting in the car for ten minutes. Show up on time, buddy. See what the time is. I will open the door for you),” Jaiswal was heard telling Nitish, who was smiling at his teammate.
The initial team for the ODIs against Afghanistan did not include Yashasvi Jaiswal. He did, however, take the place of Virat Kohli, who was unable to play in the series because of a hamstring injury sustained during the IPL 2026 final.
Although Jaiswal eventually joined the team, he was not given a chance right away. In the first ODI, Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer played at number three and four, respectively, while Rohit Sharma and captain Shubman Gill started.
Jaiswal will likely get a chance if India wins the second ODI in Lucknow and goes 2-0 up in the three-match series. This will give them a chance to try out the bench, given that Jaiswal last played an ODI in December 2025 against South Africa, where he scored an unbeaten 116.
