India and Afghanistan clashed in the one-off Test at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium, New Chandigarh, starting on June 6, 2026. India captain Shubman Gill won the toss and chose to bat first. India also gave a debut to spinner Manav Suthar.

Yashasvi Jaiswal made 24 runs and added 41 runs for the opening wicket with KL Rahul before his dismissal. Then KL Rahul and Sai Sudharsan made the Afghanistan bowlers toil hard. They added 139 runs for the second wicket. Sudharsan looked good at no.3, scoring 81 with 13 fours.

Rahul seemed in good form and added a further 67 runs with Shubman Gill. Rahul brought up his 12th Test century, scoring 100 with 11 fours before being dismissed.

However, there was excitement in the Indian innings when Rishabh Pant came to the crease. As soon as he took strike, he went after spinner Abdul Malik and smashed him for three sixes in the same over.

Two of the sixes were hit straight down the ground, and the third one was a pull shot off a short ball.
