India and England will clash in the first ODI in Birmingham on July 14.
Indian ODI squad had landed in Birmingham during the second half of the T20I series, and it included the likes of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Jasprit Bumrah. They have begun their prep for the ODI series and have now been joined by the rest of the members who were in the T20I squad.
However, something interesting was seen during the practice sessions as veteran batter Virat Kohli and head coach Gautam Gambhir didn’t interact at all.
Gambhir spent a lot of time with the coaching staff and other team members. During a long batting practice, Kohli conversed with batting instructor Sitanshu Kotak. The head coach also spoke with Rohit Sharma and Captain Shubman Gill.
There was no direct communication between Gambhir and Kohli throughout the practice session, despite Gambhir having numerous conversations with skipper Shubman Gill, Rohit Sharma, batting coach Sitanshu Kotak, and other members of the support staff, according to Times of India, which was present.
While this was going on, Kohli finished a long batting practice and then spoke with batting instructor Sitanshu Kotak. During his conversation with Kotak, the former India captain, who is well-known for his colorful conversations, made multiple gestures.
There was no direct communication between Kohli and Gambhir during the training session; however, it's possible that inputs were communicated through Kotak.
As the practice went on, Gambhir had extended conversations with Rohit Sharma and the rest of the coaching staff, including batting coach Sitanshu Kotak. Similar to the day before, Rohit finished his fielding workouts before joining the batting nets. After that, he had to deal with deliveries from the sidearm experts for a long period.
Gambhir and Shubman Gill were seen planning for the first ODI near the pitch. Gambhir also had another extended chat with Rohit Sharma as India fine-tuned their preparations.
