India captain Rohit Sharma was at the forefront in the recent limited overs series against England in which the visitors triumphed in both the ODI series and the T20I series. India won both the series by a margin of 2-1.

Rohit Sharma had missed the rescheduled Test match which India lost to England after contracting Covid-19 but returned to lead the Men in Blue against a rampaging England team who had come into this series after decimating the Netherlands in an ODI series.

India started by pocketing the T20I series 2-1 by winning the first two T20Is. Hardik Pandya starred with both the bat and ball by making 51 and taking 4/33 in the first T20I. The second T20I saw Ravindra Jadeja starring with the bat with a brilliant 46*, while Bhuvneshwar Kumar picked 3/15.

In the final T20I, Suryakumar Yadav hit a sublime 117 while chasing a 216-run target to win, in which India ultimately fell short by 17 runs.

The ODI series was a bit more interesting as India bowled out England for 110 runs in the first match with Jasprit Bumrah taking 6/19 and Rohit Sharma’s 76* taking India to a 10-wicket win. However, things turn around 180 degrees as India was bundled for 146 while chasing 247 to win and lost the match by 100 runs.

The third match also seemed to be in the pocket of England as India was 72/4 while chasing 260 runs to win. But then Hardik Pandya (71) and Rishabh Pant (125*) took India past the finishing line with 5 wickets to spare.

This was India’s first ODI series win in England in 8 years.

Rohit Sharma took to Twitter to praise the entire Indian team which played both T20Is and ODIs, with his post reading: “Special achievements by a special bunch
