As Virat Kohli’s run of poor form continues, the debate over his place in the starting eleven for the upcoming T20 World Cup down under is getting more intense. If Kohli's downturn persists, many veteran cricketers, notably Kapil Dev suggested dropping the veteran batter.

In the middle of all the debates surrounding Kohli's batting woes, former India cricketer Pravin Amre advised the former skipper to remain calm, manage his emotions, and focus on small goals to get back in rhythm. He believes that Kohli is just one good inning away from returning to form.

“Virat needs to stay calm. He should not react much and control his nerves. He needs to spend more time on the wicket to score big runs. It’s just a matter of one good inning for Virat. For this, he needs to chase a small target… Like focus on the initial 10 runs, then make the next 10 runs, and so on…," Amre told Jagran TV.

“Remember that Virat is a chasing master. He needs to help himself and stay calm. When you stay calm, your shot selection will improve, and there will be less chance of you making a mistake. That’s why I feel Virat should chase small targets of 10 runs. That I think will help him a lot. No one has a doubt about his ability, but he needs to execute things properly by staying calm," he added.

Virat Kohli had a forgettable outing in IPL 2022 as he scored just 341 runs in 16 games. The 33-year-old registered scores of 11 and 20 in the rescheduled Test against England at Edgbaston and followed it up with knocks of 1 and 11 in the two T20Is.

He was unable to play the first ODI due to a groin injury, and his availability for the second ODI at Lord's on Thursday (July 14) is still questionable.
