Virat Kohli’s continuous poor form has now become a hot topic to discuss among the cricket fraternity, as the dashing right-hander has been struggling with the bat for nearly three years now.

However, the former Indian skipper continuously gets the backing of the Indian cricket team management and national selectors and has had several opportunities to regain his form back.

Well, former Indian wicketkeeper-batter Syed Kirmani and former Indian spinner Amit Mishra have now joined the long list to share their opinion on Kohli’s lean patch.

Kirmani believes that there is nothing wrong if Kohli goes back to domestic cricket to find his form, while Mishra feels he should continue to be backed.

Syed Kirmani told India Today: “Obviously, there is so much of competition in this current era. If you are not performing in a few innings, irrespective of how experienced you might be, the selection committee takes a call and says, 'That’s it. Go back to domestic cricket, come back to form, and then we will see if we can fit you back into the Indian team'. Don't see why that can't apply to Virat Kohli.”

Meanwhile, Amit Mishra said: “We can say that he is not in the form currently but he has created such a reputation, has performed so much and won so many games that it is important to back him. As a player, he is a match-winner and has always stepped up to the occasion in difficult circumstances.”

He signed off by saying, “Like junior, sometimes seniors also need the same support. So keep that faith and make sure he does not lose that confidence.”
