Bumrah slammed 29 off Stuart Broad's over, which eventually went for 35 runs.
Bumrah broke West Indies legend Brian Lara's record for most runs in an over in Test cricket, slamming 29 off Stuart Broad's over.
The veteran England pacer eventually conceded 35 runs in the over including extras, registering his name in the unwanted record for the most expensive over in Test history.
Lara, who previously held the record by hitting South Africa’s Robin Peterson for 28 runs in an over in December 2003, was among the many who reacted to Bumrah's blitzkrieg against Broad.
The West Indies batting maestro congratulated Bumrah, who took Broad to the cleaners by smashing 4 fours, 2 sixes and a single.
“Join me in congratulating the young @Jaspritbumrah93 on breaking the record of Most Runs in a Single Over in Tests. Well done!” Lara tweeted.
Jasprit Bumrah eventually stayed unbeaten on 31 not out off 16 balls to take the visitors to a substantial first-innings total of 416. Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja starred with the bat for India, slamming 146 and 104 respectively.
In reply, the hosts were reeling on 84/5 at the close of play on Day 2 with Jonny Bairstow (12*) and Ben Stokes (0*) unbeaten in the middle, trailing the tourists by 332 runs.
