India's all-rounder Shardul Thakur scored his second consecutive half-century in the fourth Test against England on Sunday (September 5). He had smashed the fastest Test half-century on England soil in the first innings.
Shardul scored 60 runs in the second innings, before he was caught by Craig Overton at first slip off Joe Root’s bowling. He became only the sixth batsman in Test history to make fifty-plus scores in each innings of a Test match while batting at No. 8.

In the first innings, the all-rounder scored a half-century in just 31 balls, the second-fastest in Test cricket for India. The fastest is by Kapil Dev off 30 deliveries against Pakistan in Karachi in 1982.
Twitterati praised Shardul for his terrific knock on Day 4 of the match. He and Rishabh Pant also put up a 100-run stand for the seventh wicket as India set a target of 368 runs for England.
