Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja was taken to a Leeds hospital for a precautionary scan to ascertain the extent of his knee injury which he sustained while fielding on the second day during the third Test at Headingley.

Jadeja continued to field and bowl during England's innings after going off for a short while. He took two wickets as India conceded a lead of 354 runs after being bowled out for 78.

The southpaw also batted in India's second innings and scored 30 runs while batting with the tail, before being the ninth man to be dismissed as India lost the match by an innings and 76 runs.

Jadeja's injury is not believed to be "very serious" as per a PTI report.

If Jadeja is not available for the fourth Test at The Oval from September 2, off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin could possibly replace him after having sat out of the first three Tests due to the team's strategy of playing four fast bowlers in the XI.

Jadeja himself posted a picture from his hospital visit on his Instagram stories and wrote "not a good place to be at".
