India captain Virat Kohli’s woeful affair with the Decision Review System (DRS) continued on Friday (August 13), as the tourists wasted two reviews in a matter of two overs on Day 2 of the ongoing second Test against England at Lord’s.

Kohli went for DRS twice against England captain Joe Root in the 21st and 23rd over after being convinced by Mohammed Siraj despite the wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant trying his best to stop the India skipper from taking the reviews at Lord’s, and eventually, it went in the hosts’ favor on both occasions.

Siraj twice thought he had Root LBW, as his in-swinging delivery struck the right-hander’s pads, but the ball was missing the leg-stump and Team India ended up burning their two DRS reviews at Lord’s after which Kohli and the pacer were heavily criticized by fans and former cricketers.

On Saturday, August 14, Pant has opened up about those DRS calls taken by Kohli against Root.

Pant told the host broadcasters, “We take the DRS thinking that it will hit the stumps but the replays end up different. We can only imagine what might happen and we are taking our chances most of the time. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t, that’s just part and parcel of the game.”

Notably, the Indian team were bowled out for 364 as they lost seven wickets for only 88 runs on Day 2 with James Anderson taking his 31st five-wicket haul in the ongoing second Test at Lord’s.

In reply, Siraj struck twice to send back Dom Sibley (11) and Haseeb Hameed (0) to the pavilion while Mohammad Shami trapped Rory Burns for 49 while Root (89*) and Jonny Bairstow (51*) are on the crease with England still trailing by 148 runs at Lunch on Day 3.
