Former Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq is in awe of the Indian fast bowling unit who have managed to trouble the England batsmen in the first Test. India bowled out England on a score of 183 in the first innings and then took a lead of 95 runs.

India's fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah picked up four wickets in the first innings. He bagged a five-wicket haul in the second innings to feature in the Trent Bridge Honours board, as England got all-out on 303 with a lead of 208 runs.

Inzamam lauded Bumrah and co for troubling the English batters and he said they never allowed the hosts to be comfortable against them.

“With their fast bowling on the first day, Team India set the rhythm for the series. They put England on the back foot right away. Subcontinent bowlers often find it difficult in the first Test since the lines to be bowled in England are different. Team India’s bowlers demoralized England’s batting,” he said.

“Bumrah picked up four wickets in the first innings and put England on the backfoot. Joe Root scored a fifty in the first innings as well but Bumrah never allowed him to feel comfortable. The others pacers like Mohammed Shami and Siraj are also brilliant. I have never seen such an Indian fast bowling line-up.

“Team India has produced very good fast bowlers in the past as well. But the current Indian pacers have genuine fast bowlers’ aggression. When you have aggressive pacers, such performances are bound to come about,” he added.

India scored 52/1 at the end of the fourth day's play and they need 157 more runs to win the match. England would like to take quick wickets when play resumes on Day 5 or a partnership from Indian batsmen can push them on backfoot.
