Team India had a wonderful first day in the first Test match against England as they bowled out hosts for 183 and managed to keep all 10 wickets intact, ending the on 21/0 with Rohit Sharma (9 off 40 balls) and KL Rahul (9 off 39 balls) at the crease.

With the last Test series win in England coming long 14 years back, former India skipper and legendary batsman Sunil Gavaskar has backed this Indian team to win this ongoing five-match Test series 4-0 if the conditions remain hot for the majority of the series.

My prediction is if again this time I am making it contingent (on) to the weather... if the hot conditions are there, hot conditions are there for 22 out of possible 25 days, then I think India will win 4-0,Gavaskar said during Sony Sports match coverage.

In case you have a situation where the weather is going to be a factor, then I think India will win 3-1, but I think India will still go on to win, because England is now a very depleted side, and their batting, as we saw in the series against New Zealand, is being brittle,” the former India cricketer added.

While the fans are waiting for the Anderson-Kohli battle, the 72-year-old believes the Indian skipper will be the winner in this contest just like he did in 2018.

I just think Anderson as a fast bowler getting three-year older and Virat Kohli getting three years more experienced, and I think batsmen are at their peak around this 28-33-34, I do believe that Virat Kohli will come out triumphs as he did in 2018,” he signed off.
