Earlier, while the fans were shocked not to see skipper Kohli and his deputy Ajinkya Rahane’s name in the team sheet, BCCI had clarified by issuing a statement saying that Kohli felt some stiffness in his back and Rahane had a mild swelling around his hamstring and, thus, the duo couldn’t take the field for the warm-up fixture, which started on Tuesday (July 20).
BCCI also posted a video of Kohli having a net session at Emirates Riverside, and wrote, "Captain @imVkohli batting = Pure bliss #TeamIndia".
“Captain Virat Kohli felt some stiffness in his back on late Monday evening and he has been advised rest from the three-day first-class warm-up game by the BCCI Medical Team. Vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane has mild swelling around his left upper hamstring. This has been addressed by an injection. He is not available for the three-day first-class warm-up game,” BCCI said in a media release.
