Legendary Indian all-rounder Kapil Dev lamented the fact that the current generation of Indian players no longer call yesteryear players for help. He further added that he wants to detach himself from the current Indian team due to such treatment.

When asked on The Ranveer Show if watching the Rohit Sharma-led Indian team in action at the 2023 World Cup makes him nostalgic, the veteran India all-rounder confessed that he would rather not be in their shoes or instruct them how to play the game.

The 64-year-old then revealed that none of the current Indian team's players have ever reached out to him for assistance or advice.

CWC 2023: Kane Williamson praises India for adjusting after Hardik’s injury; okay with New Zealand being underdogs

"Not really. I don't want to get into their shoes. I don't want to tell them 'Play like this, do this, or that'. I just want to detach myself and watch them play. No (the current players don't reach out to me for help). The ones who want to reach but the ones who don't want to, I can't force them, they don't have an obligation to do so. These kids are very smart, they don't need people like us. We are not better than them. We can only guide them to get better,” he said on the TRS Clips.

However, he was full of praise for India pacers Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah for their brilliant bowling and major role in India reaching the semi-finals of the CWC 2023.

"I think Shami is extraordinary, Bumrah with his action... hats off to him. I can't even imagine that someone can be as devastating as him with such a short run-up and unusual action. They have the experience. They just need to keep themselves fit," Kapil added.

India and New Zealand will clash in the first semi-final of the Cricket World Cup 2023 in Mumbai on November 15.
