Pakistan lost to Afghanistan for the first time ever in ODIs.
The Men in Green suffered a humiliating 8-wicket loss to Afghans. Batting first, Pakistan posted 282/7 in Chepauk with Abdullah Shafique and Babar Azam scoring fifties and Shadab Khan and Iftikhar Ahmed making 40 each.
However, their bowlers were not up to the mark and Afghanistan batters made merry against some toothless and uninspired bowling performance. Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Ibrahim Zadran and Rahmat Shah made fifties as Afghanistan reached the target with 8 wickets in hand and one over to spare.
During a break in the Afghanistan innings, 33-year-old Iftikhar Ahmed was seen having a conversation with “nobody”. Mohammad Rizwan, Shaheen Shah Afridi, and Shadab Khan had assembled to perhaps discuss the game plan and strategies.
But Iftikhar Ahmed, who was behind them, was engrossed in a deep conversation. Who was he talking to? No one knows.
