Both the incidents involving Babar Azam and Mohammad Nabi went viral on social media.
During his team’s World Cup 2023 match against Afghanistan in Chennai, Babar opened his gloves to tie his shoelaces. In order to help him out, senior Afghanistan all-rounder Mohammad Nabi approached Babar.
However, the Pakistan captain showed a classy gesture as he moved away to deny Nabi from touching his feet.
Nabi went towards his bowling mark with a pat on Babar's back. The crowd present at Chepauk lauded Babar for his beautiful gesture towards Nabi.
In a separate incident from the same match, Mohammad Nabi was seen warning Babar Azam for leaving his crease at the non-striker’s end.
This incident took place just before the first ball of the 16th over when Nabi was about to bowl. The Afghan veteran asked Babar to stay inside the crease and the latter quickly corrected his mistake.
Coming to the match, Pakistan won the toss and opted to bat first. Riding on half-centuries from Babar Azam (74) and Abdullah Shafique (58) and crucial cameos from Iftikhar Ahmed (40) and Shadab Khan (40), the Men in Green posted 282/7 on the board.
In reply, Afghanistan were 171/1 after 29 overs at the timing of writing this article, needing 112 more runs to seal the deal.
