Rohit Sharma was seen showing his biceps to umpire Erasmus.
India captain Rohit Sharma was on cloud nine after the Men in Blue defeated Pakistan in the grudge match in Ahmedabad on October 14. India has now won all three of their matches thus far in the ICC World Cup 2023 tournament.
Rohit had won the toss and chosen to bowl first. Pakistan looked set for a big total at 155/2 with Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan both set and ready to launch. But then Babar Azam was bowled by Mohammed Siraj and things went south for Pakistan soon. They were bowled out for 191 runs in no time, losing their last 8 wickets for 36 runs only.
In reply, Rohit Sharma hammered the Pakistani bowlers to all parts of the Narendra Modi stadium. While Pakistani batters couldn’t hit a single six, Sharma hit 6 sixes and 6 fours in his 63-ball 86-run knock. Then Shreyas Iyer completed the job remaining unbeaten on 53 as India won by 7 wickets.
During the live broadcast, Rohit was captured hilariously showing-off his biceps to Erasmus, to which the on-field umpire passed a chuckle. After India had defeated Pakistan, Hardik Pandya met Rohit and asked him about the instance.
“He was asking me how am I hitting so many big sixes. Is there something in my bat! I replied there's nothing in the bat, it's just power (pointing towards biceps),” Rohit replied, as both, the Indian captain and Hardik, laughed.
With the win over Pakistan, India moved to top spot in the World Cup points table. They also received a significant Net Run Rate (NRR) boost, which stands at +1.821. New Zealand (+1.604) are currently second with six points as well.
