Australia dismissed Ishan Kishan, Rohit Sharma and Shreyas Iyer fell for a duck in first two overs.
Asked to bowl first, the hosts bundled out Australia for a below-par total of 199 in 49.3 overs. Ravindra Jadeja (3-28), Jasprit Bumrah (2-35) and Kuldeep Yadav (2-42) were the wrecker-in-chief with the ball for India.
Chasing the paltry target, however, the Men in Blue were reduced to 2/3 in just two overs. The trio of Ishan Kishan, Rohit Sharma and Shreyas Iyer fell for a duck.
While Mitchell Starc got rid of Kishan in the very first over of the chase, Josh Hazlewood struck in the following over by dismissing Rohit and Iyer.
The scorecard reading 2 for 3 reminded the cricket fans of 2019 World Cup semi-final, when the Indian top-order was reduced to 5/3 by the New Zealand bowlers at Old Trafford.
Here are the reactions:
Australia could have dismissed Virat Kohli cheaply as well but Mitchell Marsh dropped his easy catch on 12 during the eighth over.
At the time of writing this article, India were 49/3 after 15 overs with Kohli (31*) and KL Rahul (15*) unbeaten in the middle.
