India defeated South Africa by 52 runs in the final of the Women’s World Cup 2025.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Monday (November 3) announced a hefty cash reward for the Indian women’s cricket team following their maiden ODI World Cup triumph.
Led by Harmanpreet Kaur, India defeated South Africa by 52 runs in the final of the Women’s World Cup 2025, securing their place in cricketing history.
After the triumph, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia declared that the team, along with the support staff, will receive a total prize money of Rs 51 crore in recognition of their monumental achievement.
“Last month, ICC Chairman Jay Shah announced a 300 percent increase in women’s prize money. Earlier, the prize fund was 3.88 million dollars, which has now been raised to 14 million dollars. In addition, the BCCI has decided to reward the entire Indian team — players, coaches, selectors, and support staff — with a total of Rs 51 crore,” Saikia said in an interview with ANI.
The ICC had announced a whopping prize pool ahead of the tournament. The global body awarded India a massive payout of Rs 37.3 crore. These are staggering figures, marking a 239 percent increase in the winner's prize from 2022, when Australia received around Rs 11 crore.
The total prize pool for the 2025 Women's World Cup stands at Rs 116 crore, nearly three times higher than the Rs 29 crore distributed in the 2022 tournament in New Zealand.
